Strategic Communication: To orient NGO partners on the importance of strategic communication and equip them with practical tools to implement it effectively
Context
IndusInd Bank’s CSR initiatives partner with NGOs across the country to implement their flagship and strategic programs which address issues such as environmental sustainability, education and employability, inclusive sports and livelihoods.
Challenge
There was a clear gap between what funders expect in terms of communication and how projects operate on the ground. Communication teams often struggle to get relevant stories and data from field teams, while field teams feel overwhelmed by the additional burden of meeting communication expectations. This disconnect leads to missed chances to showcase incredible work and ultimately impacts the reports and visibility that funders like IndusInd Bank’s CSR wing rely on.
Results
By the end of the workshop, teams felt more connected and aligned. For many, it was the first time they’d worked together to create a strategy that balanced field realities with communication needs. The workshop closed a critical gap and set the stage for stronger storytelling and better collaboration moving forward.
Solution
We organized a hands-on workshop that brought everyone to the table—field staff, senior management, and communication teams. Using VIVA’s Strategic Framework, we broke down the process of creating an effective communication strategy into simple steps. The workshop wasn’t just about theory; it involved practical group exercises, discussions, and presentations to make the learning stick.
Here’s what the agenda covered:
-
Introducing VIVA’s Strategic Framework and how to build a communication plan around it.
-
Exploring different types of media and how to use them effectively.
-
Helping teams identify their impact stories and present them in ways that resonate with audiences.
The funders also got a chance to share their communication expectations directly with the NGOs, leading to a clearer alignment of goals.
